Problem being addressed:
PPEs are the first line of defence for doctors and health workers treating patients. There is a massive shortage of PPEs throughout the country today, with manufacturers at full capacity. If we don’t have enough PPEs, we lose our troops (doctors) on the ground and effectively lose the war. This is the basic armor they need to fight this battle.
Karkhana is using a variety of techniques (3D Printing, Injection Moulding, Machining, Fabrication, and design facility) to produce PPEs including face shields, aerosol boxes, goggles etc., along with tools for manufacturing other PPEs (mask machines, gown machines), and other ICU equipment Valves, connectors, ventilator parts etc.
Karkhana successfully closed the ACT grant objectives in August 2020. They used modern manufacturing techniques to produce 75,000+ face shields with superior build quality, using safe plastics that are reusable and affordable. They have also achieved a supply capacity of 30,000 face shields per week.Their manufactured PPEs were supplied to 13 states in India across 50+ Hospitals, various diagnostic labs, police stations, corporates, and healthcare products distributors.
