Manager I ACT For Education

We’re looking for someone with 3-6 years of relevant experience to manage the ACT For Education fund.

Position Summary

This role will be responsible for collaboratively managing ACT For Education’s philanthropic fund w.r.t. strategy, execution and portfolio management as well as leading sourcing, fundraising & donor management. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a
fast paced startup environment and is energised by the idea of enabling social entrepreneurs leveraging tech and innovation to create social impact at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fund Strategy: Studying the evolving landscape of ed-tech learning in India as well as globally, building the portfolio through sourcing, due diligence and performance assessments as well as helping the team refine the fund’s investment thesis and strategic areas of focus.
  • Portfolio Management: Collaborating with grantee organisations on a range of strategic and operational areas like advisory, mentorship and network support across topics ranging from contextualising products, identifying distribution channels, building
    monetization for scale, user acquisition, outcomes measurement etc.
  • Donor Management: Supporting fundraising efforts and helming donor management including regular communication, reporting and engagement.
  • Fund Management: Managing overall fund operations which include planning, budgeting, risk evaluation, successful implementation as well as monitoring and tracking etc.

The Ideal Candidate

You’re perfect for this job if you have:

  • 3-6 years of work experience in a challenging, high growth environment
  • Passion for the sector and motivation to help Indian children succeed
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects and achieving successful outcomes
  • Strong communication skills, including writing and presentation abilities
  • A knack for building strong relationships and managing internal and external stakeholders
  • The ability to work independently and proactively within a small team where collaboration, teamwork and resourcefulness are highly valued

Experience in consulting / entrepreneurship/ ed-tech startups will be an added advantage

Lead I ACT For Environment

We’re looking for someone with 8-10 years of relevant experience to lead the ACT For Environment fund

Position Summary

This role will be responsible for collaboratively managing the ACT For Environment fund w.r.t. strategy, execution and portfolio management as well as leading sourcing, fundraising & donor management. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast paced
startup environment and is energised by the idea of enabling social entrepreneurs leveraging tech and innovation to create social impact at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fund Strategy: Implementing the fund’s investment thesis for the ever evolving landscape of environment / climate impact solutions on an on-going basis. Over time, help refine and sharpen the fund’s investment hypothesis and key strategic areas of
    focus within air quality, water security, waste management and land rejuvenation.
  • Portfolio Management: Supporting grantee organisations on a range of strategic and operational areas. This could include advisory, mentorship and connections across topics commercial validation, go-to-market strategy, identifying distribution channels,
    outcomes, measurement, fundraising plans and more.
  • Donor Management: Leading fundraising efforts and donor management including regular communication, reporting and engagement.
  • Fund Management: Ensuring smooth operation of the fund including planning, budgets, risk management, monitoring and evaluation, grantee onboarding, fund reporting, and fund calendar. Building and managing a portfolio of investments through
    sourcing, conducting due diligence and assessing performance through regular assessment. Managing regular cadences associated with IC meetings and supporting all fund related communications.
  • Programmatic Interventions: Designing and supporting the execution of special programs, including sector specific challenges (eg. India Clean Energy Challenge) and collective action initiatives (Green Startup Pledge), building an implementer’s network,
    as well as cross-sectional initiatives with other ACT verticals.
  • Team Management: Managing a 2-3 member team which includes full time staff, as well as ACT Fellows and leveraging volunteers and experts strategically to meet the fund goals.

The Ideal Candidate

You’re perfect for this job if you have:

  • 8-10+ years of work experience in investing/ product/strategy in a challenging, high growth and/or entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, organisational skills and operationa
  • Capabilities
  • Proven ability to raise funds and manage donor relationships
  • Ability to foster community and develop a movement around shared or common goals
  • Strong communication skills (including writing and presentation skills)
  • Ability to build strong relationships and manage stakeholders internally and externally
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a small organisation setting, where
  • Collaboration,teamwork and resourcefulness are highly valued

Prior experience in venture capital/entrepreneurship/sustainability/accelerators will be an added advantage.
