Supernan: Transforming childcare and women’s employment

An estimated 73% of new mothers are forced to step away from the workforce due to the lack of reliable, professional childcare. At the same time, while the gig economy is unlocking income generation opportunities for millions of Indians, women are largely underrepresented. The result is a systemic failure that holds women back, both at home and in the workforce.

Founded in 2023 by Neethi Bhat and Sriganesh TV , Supernan is bridging this dual gap by formalising professional childcare through a tech-enabled platform that trains and certifies women as professional nannies, while connecting them to parents in need of trusted care. Having personally faced the challenge of finding high quality, reliable childcare, they have already trained over 350 women, enabled INR 80 lakhs+ in earnings for them, and supported over 8,000 parents with access to verified caregivers. Through the Supernan app, parents can review nanny profiles, conduct interviews, track sessions, and access real-time updates. For nannies, the platform provides free training in safety and child engagement, fair pay, paid leave, health insurance, and work opportunities close to home.

As Supernan looks to scale its impact, it is building Seekh.AI: an AI-powered, WhatsApp-first training engine designed to make high quality nanny training accessible, engaging, and scalable. With Seekh.AI, women can access bite-sized video lessons (like a CPR demo) on the app, upload practice videos, and receive instant, AI-based feedback. This shift to AI-driven training will allow Supernan to scale and reach more women across geographies and languages, overcoming the limitations of in-person formats.

ACT is supporting Supernan with a pre-MVP grant to help bring Seekh.AI to life. Our grant funding will enable the team to:

  • Build the core video-analysis engine that verifies whether the caregiver’s practice matches the required standards, and integrate it with WhatsApp
  • Run a pilot with 100 caregivers to test functionality, accuracy, and user experience

Supernan aims to train 250,000 women and generate INR 1,000 crore in collective income by 2035, while enabling millions of mothers to remain in or return to the workforce with peace of mind. At ACT, we believe that unlocking women’s potential is essential to building an equitable future and we’re excited to support Supernan on their journey of building it into reality!
